The Flying Shack Club (Staverton Sport Flying Social Club) is a non-profit-making social club run for the benefit of its members.  It runs the clubhouse bar which serves drinks & snacks, & manages/organises the social events of the Flying Shack club activities.

If you want to get involved in social activities at our Flying Club, then you'll have to be a member - you can become a Social or Flying member (or even a Family or Affiliate member), but you must be a member for at least 48 hours before you can purchase alcoholic drinks at the bar.  We adhere to the strict rules applied to us by Tewkesbury Council.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse started its life as the Airport Commandant's Office at RAF Staverton after WWII.  At one time the Commandant's bungalow existed in the grounds (and the blossom tree in our car park was in its garden!).  So, we're occupying a historic building that was once the hub of airport operations.

When the airport reverted to civilian use, the buildings became the clubhouse for the Staverton Flying School, which remained a resident here until January 2011, when The Flying Shack took over the running of the Social Club & introduced microlight & sport flying activities.

Some of the old Staverton Flying School club members have remained social members, but we are actively recruiting new members every week.

We have two main rooms in the clubhouse - the main bar/function room, which also houses the Pilot Shop & reception/admin area - and the lower Flight Briefing Room, which has 3 adjoining one-to-one briefing rooms. Both rooms can quickly be converted to use for functions for up to 70 people & evening events can be booked with us for a reasonable fee.

We even have our own friendly clubhouse ghost, heard by many and seen by a privileged few...!
